Materialising Migration: Chapter Plan

Here is the final (as we speak) chapter plan for the SWW-DTP (AHRC)-funded doctoral research project, Materialising Migration: Transcultural Textiles in Germany. The project will run from 2016 - 2019 and is supervised by Nina Parish (University of Bath) and Siobhán Shilton (University of Bristol).

Weave and Stitch

This chapter analyses contemporary textile artwork using transcultural weave and stitch metaphors. Artists featuring in this chapter include: Parastou Forouhar, Jeanno Gaussi, Nevin Aladag, Susan Hefuna, Selma Alaçam, and Mathilde ter Heijne (collaboration).

This chapter considers how textiles 'taking form' engage with transcultural encounter. Artists featuring in this chapter include: Nezaket Ekici, Ella Littwitz, Susan Hefuna, Nilbar Güres, Nevin Aladag, and Parastou Forouhar.
