Magnetic Drawings

Lydia creates magnetic drawings by suspending iron filings in silicone - a technique she personally developed during her undergraduate degree. The drawings are formed by arranging and layering ferrite magnets to create complex patterns. Suspending the iron filings in silicone reveals the magnetic field lines and once the silicone is cured, the magnets are removed, revealing the intricate patterns.

The magnetic drawings are float-mounted and framed behind glass, to reveal the shadows formed by the iron filings. Framed magnetic drawings, similar to those pictured above, are approx. 64 x 64 x 3cm. Commissions are available at any size and pattern - please contact Lydia for more information.
